In 2016, I went full-time on Epic Gardening, initially a gardening blog. It’s now the largest gardening media brand in the world, and approaching $50mm/yr+ in revenue.
Thought Stack
My cousin and I ran a podcast and website with two explicit goals:
- Learning and implementing new ways of thinking
- Removing or minimizing bad ways of thinking
We covered books, mental models, and interviews with interesting thinkers.
Past Projects
Book in a Box
I helped Book in a Box grow during the first 18 months of the company’s life. I worked with with Tucker Max and Zach Obront, two incredible guys who taught me so much about building a company from scratch and running it the right way.
GreatMate
GreatMate was your relationship personal assistant. It started in February 2014 with small seed investment. I ran, customer development, and marketing with Darrin as technical lead. I stopped working on GreatMate in December 2014 due to running out of cash and not getting enough traction.
Espiritu Microgreens
In July 2012 I began growing high-end gourmet microgreens. I went door to door, selling to some of the best restaurants in San Diego with nearly no experience in either selling or growing product. It was an amazing ride that taught me how to hustle.
SerpIQ
I worked with Darrin Demchuk on serpIQ, a competitive analysis and research tool for online marketers. I did the marketing and outreach for serpIQ while Darrin and our backend programmer make magic happen with the app itself.
