The people have spoken.

The world is in desperate need of it.

In light of recent events, it's time for it to come back.

The one, the only...

In a world where fake news spews from every corner of the internet...

Where books are used as toilet paper for the body instead of fertilizer for the mind...

Growing in both size and quality every year, I had to get this bad boy going for 2017 a little early!

Put some comfy clothes on and come READ at my place on Sunday, January 15.

Bring a book…..or borrow one of mine for the evening.

Show up at 6pm and we’ll all socialize. At 7pm sharp it’ll be library time….so we’ll all read for half an hour.

If you're new to this annual event: this is just a fun, casual event for us all to hang out, meet new people, and get some quality reading time in.

Dress Code

Wear whatever you want. Pajamas, comfy clothes, a suit and tie...anything goes.

6 to 7Socialize and hang out like the bosses that we are.

7 to 7:30 - I'll be a frumpy librarian, hush everyone up, and we'll all read for half an hour. After half an hour, we'll all share something we learned from our book.

7:30 to ??? - Wherever the night takes us. You can head home to bed, come out downtown, grab a drink...whatever your heart desires.

  • Delicious snacks
  • Selections of tea, beer, whiskey, and wine
  • Extra books, if you're an illiterate heathen that didn't bring their own
  • Winning personalities

The Most Important Rule...

My home WILL become a wonderland of pure comfort and relaxation while we all read, and that can only happen if you bring as many pillows and blankets as you can to transform the space.

So...DO IT. Or face the consequences (I will force you to read 50 Shades of Grey aloud)

A few more rules:

  • No laptops please (kindles or e-readers are OK)
  • If you want music while you read, bring headphones
  • Let's ACTUALLY read for a half hour between 7 and 7:30.

If you know someone that REALLY wants to come, hit me up and place will fit about 20 people comfortably (and 30 uncomfortably)

330 Brookes Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103. In Hillcrest, near Hash House a Go Go.

Ubers from DT to PB are around $8, but there's street parking and three spots available in my driveway as well (first come first serve).

Looking forward to reading with you!

P.S. Try to show up close to 6pm and don't forget a book.

P.P.S At 8pm sharp we'll hush up and read until 7:30pm. So come earlier if you want to get some drinking, eating, and schmoozing in!

P.P.P.S If you bring extra pillows and blankets you will be permanently invited to future Reading Party events ;)

Coming? See You In...
